As a new partner of Appian Capital, Mr. Harper is responsible for developing relationships with operating partners, structuring investments and expanding the company’s capital base. Mr. Harper has over 25 years of institutional real estate investment experience including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, asset management and client relations / fund raising.Prior to joining Appian Capital, Mr. Harper was a senior officer at DWS/RREEF, one of the largest global real estate investment managers with approximately $100B of real estate assets under management. Mr. Harper led the western region investment team and was a member of the US Investment Committee, which directed all investment and asset management functions nationally. During his 22-year tenure at DWS, Mr. Harper directly led the acquisition of over 70 real estate investments totaling approximately $7.2B. Investments spanned the entire risk spectrum including core, value-added, opportunistic, and development transactions of office, industrial, retail and multi-family properties. Additionally, Mr. Harper maintained responsibilities in all other facets of the western region business – acquisitions, dispositions, financings, leasing, repositioning and major asset management initiatives. Mr. Harper earned his B.S. degree in Business and Finance/Real Estate from Indiana University, Bloomington and lives with his wife and three children in Marin County, California
