Chief Financial Officer

Jim is the Chief Financial Officer for Appian Capital, with responsibility for overseeing all accounting, reporting, and tax matters at both the corporate and investment vehicle levels.

 

Jim has been involved in real estate development, in CFO, CPA, consulting and capital raise capacities for over 35 years. Jim, a CPA, spent 12 years with three international accounting firms, most recently Arthur Andersen, where he consulted exclusively with real estate developers, REITs and property management companies. Most recently, Jim was CFO and Vice President for a major private real estate developer, where he raised over $600 million of debt and equity for ground up real estate developments throughout the West coast. Jim’s additional expertise lies in complex income tax consultation, capital and operating budgeting, the formation and operation of partnerships, S. Corps, REITs, UPREITs, LLCs and title holding companies, real estate taxation, like-kind exchanges, entity conversions, and accounting and financial operations in general. Jim is a published author in leading tax journals and was a contributing author of the Urban Land Institute’s Office Development Handbook. Jim has both his MBA and BA from The University of Michigan.
