As managing partner and founder of Appian Capital, Jon is primarily responsible for developing relationships with real estate operators, structuring investments, overseeing the management of our investment strategies, and expanding the company’s capital base.
Jon began his career in institutional capital management at Franklin Templeton and Barclays Global Investors (now BlackRock) before founding Appian Capital in January 2000. He built a successful mezzanine lending and joint venture equity platform through Appian Capital to address the then high demand for this type of financing among real estate operators and developers focused on the core commercial property types – office, industrial, retail, and residential.
With 30 years of investment and real estate transaction experience, Jon has directed the investment and disposition of over $2.5 billion of real property. He earned his B. A. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, is a member of various commercial real estate investment associations, and lives with his wife and three children in the San Francisco Bay Area.
